e-Consult provides a symptom checker for patients to use which gives infor- mation to help manage their health problems. It signposts to other services e.g. a Pharmacy or NHS111 for advice. Patients can also complete an e-Consult form to send to the Practice for one of a number of common health conditions. This service is available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.


Patients are advised that it will take up to 2 working days for a response from the Practice. Reception staff will contact the patient on the telephone number provided in the e-Consult. This will either be to tell the patient to collect a prescription authorised by the GP, or to book a telephone or face- to-face consultation. Occasionally, the Doctor may choose to telephone the patient themselves.

The aim of e-Consult is to provide:

  • A safe, convenient way for patients to self-manage their problems
  • Advice about consulting other services e.g. a Pharmacy, NHS111
  • A way to improve access to their own Doctor.
  • Improved Practice efficiency with fewer requests for face to face GP appointments.
